Xoan singing is to be held at Hung King Temple

This is one part of the annual event “Travelling to the Roots” hosted by Phu Tho Province to recall the contribution of Hung Kings to the development of Vietnam, as well as promote tourism in the destination, with a focus on cultural aspects.

In attempt to provide access to the many people who cannot get to the temple to watch directly, the national Vietnam Television will broadcast the program live on its channels.

Xoan singing is a traditional singing style that is performed for worshipping Gods mostly in the beginning of the year, especially in Phu Thu province, where it originates. The art not only reflects the cultural diversity of Vietnam, but also expresses the gratitude of Vietnamese to their Gods and ancestors.
In 2011, Xoan singing was recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible World Heritage.
